Compact representations

When structure is explicit, it can be reasoned about. When it is compact, it can be scaled.

The trick is to compress without destroying the invariants you care about. For example, if $p(x)=\sum_i a_i x^i$ is a compact summary, make sure it preserves the properties you need downstream.
